The anti-slip surface provides secure footing even when the boards are wet which was a huge issue in the past with another set of aftermarket running board. They were wet and I slipped and really hurt my back so I don't take it for granted that these grip your shoes and feel secure. They also maintain good ground clearance which is also a key factor knowing they won't ground out.Another nice feature is that they help protect the sides of the vehicle. In parking lots, they tend to take the hit from neighboring car doors which always happens when I have a new vehicle.Installation was straightforward since they are pre-drilled with a bolt-on design, and once installed they felt solid with no rattling.
